Preptober: Prepped and Ready for NaNoWriMo

Every year, thousands – more likely millions – of writers take on the challenge of NaNoWriMo each November. NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month, and it is a writing challenge that takes place during the month of November. The goal is to write a full-length novel in 30 days – at least 52,000 words or bust! So, of course, an undertaking such as this needs a lot of prep work. And we’ve got you covered. Every October we curate our Preptober list featuring a daily task to set you up for success and keep you motivated during the NaNoWriMo challenge.

This list features fun tasks such as the “first day selfie” to remember how shiny and happy you were at the start to the “last day selfie” to see how you faired during this month of prepping. Because the real challenge has yet to come. Our Preptober list will aid you in prepping and planning as much as possible before the real writing on your book begins in November. The list also includes tasks such as figuring out your main characters, your setting, and possible world building ideas. Each day gets you closer to a more concrete outline to your novel. For those of us that are typically pantsers, Preptober will force us to be planners if only for the next two months.

We look forward to plotting and planning right along with you all. NaNoWriMo is always an exciting time of year for us, as it gives us the opportunity to share tips and fun prompts to be more creative in our writing and to help you do the same with your own. We hope that you will take full advantage of this handy day to day guideline to plan out your novel for the NaNoWriMo challenge so this event will be breeze for you come November 1st
