Book Review: Scandalicious by Allison Hobbs by Allison Hobbs

Scandalicious was good up until the last bite. The story follows Solay, a bakery shop owner; her apprentice, Melanee; and Lincoln, whose marriage is taking a turn for the worse. The story that these three get caught up in is hotter than a 400-degree oven!

I could not put this book down. Allison Hobbs has always known how to tell a sex and drama filled story!

From one of the characters paying an escort service for sex to one of them having a dirty little shameful secret, Scandalicious was full of juicy twists and turns. Plus the sex scenes own up to the scandalous title of the book!

I enjoyed all the characters as well. Solay had her moments where she could rub you the wrong way. She was one of those characters that is very buttoned up, controlled and thinks she knows everything. But she was a well-developed character and as the story goes on the reader gets to see her vulnerable side.

Melanee was one crazy girl. She is the very definition of “a lady in the street and a freak in the sheets”. Lincoln is a dutiful husband who just doesn’t understand what happened to his happy marriage. Sometimes Lincoln seemed a little cardboard and cookie-cutter, like a Ken doll – too perfect. But eventually he came into his own man and his character became more developed as well.

The story wrapped up a little too quickly for me. One because I wasn’t ready for it to end, and two, because the ending seems to just have been slapped into the middle of the story. It didn’t really have a good closing at the end.

But overall, I will definitely read more of Hobbs books. This one would have gotten five stars if the ending had been a little more detailed and had flowed better with the rest of the story.
