About

Big Black Chapters is dedicated to encouraging and promoting diversity in fiction, especially romance and erotica.  Representation matters even in something as trivial as the everyday romance novel.

Black people are sexual. We fall in love, we have fantasies and desires. We also read and write books. At Big Black Chapters we believe these stories need to be told and shared. This site was created to serve that purpose – to share and promote literature created by Black authors. BBC is also here to support both the traditionally published and independent African American writer.

Big Black Chapters is a safe space for Black people who love reading books by Black authors. This site is dedicated to enhancing the reading experience of African American book lovers by promoting urban romance and erotic fiction that center around minority characters. The reviews expressed on this site are meant to provide you with our most unbiased, honest opinions.

Meet the Crew

Raquel Shante

Creative Director / FounderAuthor R.S. Johnson

Raquel is a freelance writer and virtual marketing assistant who currently resides in the great state of Texas. She has a Bachelors in accounting from the University of Houston but admits that writing has always been her true passion. When she’s not coming up with ways to turn people on, she’s busy providing consulting services to her clients or reading steamy erotic romance novels.

Raquel has always been intrigued by erotic art in all forms – literature, photography, and poetry and honestly feel that African American attitudes toward sex are still pretty reserved. She is a firm believer that many people do not allow themselves certain pleasures in life, the main one being their sexual desires.
